Day 6: Dawson Creek, BC to "Nugget City", YT

Day 6... all 50 states!!

Today's Stats
Miles: ~700
Wildlife: See Below
States: All 50!

So on the 6th day we gladly left Dawson Creek (no need to ever visit there again, in our opinions)... and headed out on the Alaska Highway towards Watson Lake.

As expected, we had some beautiful scenery along the way...

This is called Indian Head Mountain for how it resembles the profile of an Indian.

Day 6 was mainly filled with wildlife.  We saw lots of Black Bears, Mountain Goats, Stone Sheep, Bison and Caribou.

Bears

Mountain Goat

Bison

Stone Sheep (a slightly smaller variety of Dall Sheep)

And a momma Caribou with her babies.  These guys were at the bottom of a hill in the middle of the road, we had slowed down to make sure we didn't hurt them etc. and an 18 wheeler truck came barreling down behind us honking and not slowing down.  All we could do was pull on to the shoulder and hope he passed us safely and didn't hit the Caribou.  Fortunately everyone made it through uninjured, but Alison and I had slightly higher heart rates for a bit...  It was scary!

After that we made it to the Yukon!

Finally we made it to Watson Lake, which is known for its "Sign Post Forest"

Look what we found!

This placed got us all 50 states!  We decided it counts!

Finally, we made it to our stopping place for the night, a random "outpost" on the Highway about 15 miles past Watson Lake.  We stayed in a "sleeping room" which just had 2 twin beds and a shared bathroom...

Don't they look comfortable??  Now, if only I had somewhere to sleep...
